2018 NAMM Show: Spectrasonics has announced Mac and Windows standalone applications of Keyscape, Omnisphere 2, Trilian and Stylus RMX virtual instruments.
The standalone versions are now included with each product and are available now as a free update for existing customers. This provides a streamlined way to use Spectrasonics instruments in a laptop-based live setup.
The company says that the standalone versions are designed to offer quick access, high performance and outstanding sound quality.
A new remote control loading feature has also been added to the Omnisphere 2.4 and Keyscape 1.1 updates, which allows any patches or multis to be selected using MIDI Program Changes, CC messages or even by triggering Notes on the keyboard. This new feature makes it easy to create a custom setup for quick patch changes from a controller during a live performance, or from a DAW within a song. This is also a useful feature for the visually-impaired, who can now access sounds via physical buttons and controls.
Omnisphere 2 and Keyscape now also include Spectrasonics brand new “Smart Update” system, which makes it easier to keep a user’s collection of Spectrasonics instruments up to date. With these latest versions, clicking the ”Get Updates” button in the Splash Pane will take you directly to the new Smart Update page, where any updates needed to any instruments and libraries in the customer’s User Account will be automatically compiled into a single download. Running one installer will then get your entire Spectrasonics system up to date.
The updates include the following new features and improvements:

- New Standalone application

I’m salty af from Atmosphere and Trilogy
I love how you all moderate my comments now. Is there no freedom of speech on this site?
The guy robbed everyone who paid for Atmosphere and Trilogy all to repackage it and sell it again under a different name. People have the right to know when they’re on the roadmap to get ripped off by Eric Persing and the Spectrasonics team.
Look at the packages and you will know if they are other versions of the same thing. This launch also mentions “The standalone versions are now included with each product and are available now as a free update for existing customers.”
You bought something that you were happy with for the price that you paid at the time. A newer, better version came out that you had to pay an upgrade fee for and now you’re annoyed?
Are you also complaining to Apple that they didn’t give you an iPhone X when it came out to replace your iPhone 7, or to your car manufacturer when they release new versions with new features and a better engine?
So they flipped the JUCE flag to make a standalone plug-in – woo-hoo!!
Next they’ll flip the other flags for iOS and Android 🙂
It would be more interesting if they made stand-alone hardware synths with lots of knobs & sliders!
A terrible company. I agree with James, those 249 Euros that i spent for Atmosphere are gone forever. I use Stylus but the user interface is so 2005. Absolutely terrible. Standalone…why? I don’t get it…
