This video, via DivKid, offers a quick look and hands-on demo of the Mutable Instruments Marbles.
Here’s what he has to say about it:
This is a bit of a feature jam and walkthrough looking at using all 7 outputs in a patch for beats, clocking, random jitters and stepped random with musical quantisation and locking / looping as well as the great spread/bias controls to influence the stepped random values. A more comprehensive full video is coming soon.
Marbles is designed to give you many different ways of imposing structure on the random events generated by the module: synchronization to external clocks, control of the repetition or novelty of the generated material, quantization of the voltages, or randomization of gates or voltages generated by traditional sequencers.
We’ve hit peak Eurorack. Everybody and their dog has produced a VCO, DCO, filter or step sequencer. Things are now getting into the deep fringe. Five years ago, Mutable was making desktop synthesizers. Now Olivier is making bizarrely named modules that do things nobody really understands, for reasons nobody really understands.
Now we know… Thanks…
Oh, it’s only getting started, Marbles looks amazing, but it might be too complicated for you?
Now we know. . .
