This video, via LeoMakes, captures a build of the Music Thing Spring Reverb, and a look at how it can be used.
Topics covered:
- 0:22 – The build
- 4:50 – Digital “Brick” vs. traditional reverb “Tank”
- 7:12 – Demo of the Spring Reverb in action
For details on the project, see the MT site.
Why he is talking about “spring reverb” all over the audio demo, while he in fact uses the digital module?
Yep. 3 PT2399 chips instead of actual spring.
Plucking a PT2399 is frustrating.
There are multiple PT2399’s inside each Accutronics BTDR-2H brick. It makes short closely tapped delays that sound a bit like spring reverb. That is how cheap reverb is made without a mechanical or dsp basis. The bricks are marketed as reverb not delay. That is why he is referring to it as reverb. They get used a lot in pedals.

Anyway, it isn’t a spring reverb like he is saying several times….
tbf to him he *is* using a module called “Music Thing Spring Reverb”
