  1. watching the trailer reminded me of making music back in the 90s. When it was easy and fun and intuitive. This is awesome, I’m all in.

  2. This looks killer.! The routing options showing signal flow look simple to follow. It looks to be similar to Reason and Live, but easier to use.

    Free? It’s worth a try.

      1. As the previous T5 and T6 have shown us, it will only be a matter of time until both T8 and T9 will be made free as well.

Until then: Let’s have some fun with T7!
If you need an external mixer, you can always look at KVRaudio for free VST ones.

  3. Haven’t heard a solid millenial whoop in a while.

That modular effect path window looks awesome. That’s what I’ve envisioned as a mix paradigm. Needs some modules that are just mix/routing modules to move, split, merge, crossover, etc.

Curious how tracktion does with things like tempo maps, time-sigs, and MIDI editing options like quantize (how flexible for tuplets), time-morphing (like time-scaling, ramping, etc.).

I guess I could just hunker down with the demo or maybe a manual.

    1. Pretty decent, actually.
Time sigs and tempo have their own track (atop of your normal audio/midi tracks) which can be manipulated by dragging a line up and down or by setting automation points.

With modular signal routing you will have to use the occasional third-party-plugin to be fully flexible. I highly recommend something like “Fr33some” by DeLaMancha or BlueCat Audio’s “Gain Suite”.

  4. Correct me if I’m wrong, but not only are they “The World’s Best, Fully Featured, Completely Unlimited Free Daw For All Music Creators” … but also “The World’s First”….

I have seen many of these free DAWs before, that are obviously a limited version of their commercial counterparts.

…or I might have been living under a rock, and missed something, which is not very uncommon. πŸ™‚

In any case, this made my day.

    1. It will come with some standard effects like EQ, compression, delay (just as you would expect from Steinberg, Logic or any of the commercial DAWs).

However – since these built-in effects are mostly optimized for lean performance of your system – you might wanna grab a couple of these extra freeware VSTs that are floating around out there.

  5. Have any current / former LogicPro X users also tried Traction (and specifically Waveform) to compare the two? I do find Waveform’s UI quite attractive and the function set intriguing as well.
