PrecisionSound has released a SampleSet for Fender Rhodes fans, the Dusty Electric MK II.
For Dusty Electric Mk II, PrecisionSound used a well-tuned and serviced Rhodes® Stage Piano Mark II (Seventy Three) from 1980. All notes were recorded in 24bit without any post treatment. What you get is the pure and true sound and response of the instrument in up to 5 velocity layers and 3 velocity release layers.
To keep the size down (under 235 MB) and still be extremely realistic, PrecisionSound has carefully looped each sample.
Dusty Electric Mk II contains 520 individual 24 bit Mono WAV samples. 1 program each for HALion 1.*, HALion 2 and NI Kontakt 1.2 and are available on CD-ROM and as a downloadable SampleSet.
The price is $73 for the CD-ROM (Free worldwide shipping) and $63 for the download.
More information and demo songs are available at the PrecisionSound site.
I’ve been using this dusty electric mk2 Rhodes sample set for a couple of years now and I really like it – it has soul and it seems to fit anywhere with little tweaking. I did modify a couple of samples and reduced the release samples’ volumes as I found them to be too prominent. Otherwise, I much prefer it to the AAS and Scarbee Rhodes plugins. The latter are way too pristine and sterile. PrecisionSound also has a good Wurlitzer sample set which doubles with the Rhodes/dusty electric quite nicely. Highly recommended.
