Last year’s NY Moogfest was such a blast that Moog has announced plans to do it all again.
This May 31st, BB King’s Bar and Grill in Times Square will again host Moogfest in the Big Apple. Renowned keyboardists and longstanding Moog users will gather to celebrate the Moog sound. This year’s lineup includes Edgar Winter, Living Colour, Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Adam Holzman (Miles Davis), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theatre), Steve Molitz (Particle), Brazilian Girls, Gershon Kingsley, DJ Logic and Musical Director Jason Miles.
Bob Moog has been inventing and building electronic musical instruments for nearly half a century. Still active in his workshop in rural North Carolina, Moog continues to shape musical culture with some of the most inspiring instruments ever created.
Moog’s namesake analog synthesizer helped catapult the careers of such a diverse list of artists as rockers Edgar Winter, Todd Rundgren, Gary Numan and Devo, funksters Parliament-Funkadelic and Zapp, disco producer Giorgio Moroder with disco diva Donna Summer, fusioneers Chick Corea with Return To Forever, Herbie Hancock with The Headhunters, Jan Hammer with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Klaus Doldinger with Passport and Joe Zawinul with Weather Report, New Age icon Tomita and classical performer Wendy Carlos.
To honor Moog and commemorate his groundbreaking achievements, several renowned keyboardists and longstanding Moog users will gather on Tuesday, May 31 at B.B. King’s Bar & Grill in Times Square (237 w. 42nd Street between 7th & 8th Avenues) to participate in a gala Moogfest – and here’s your chance to perform!
Your band could also open the show! One lucky band will be chosen to open for Edgar Winter. To find out how to participate, purchase tickets or just get more information, check out the Moogfest website.
