The SpeckTone Retro is one of the few iPod accessories that has caught our eyes recently. The fifties look of the all-wood speaker cabinet is finished with a high-gloss lacquered piano finish, and is a surprisingly nice complement to the modern look of iPods.
“Until now, all the iPod speaker sets available looked very similar,” said Speck’s General Manager Tim Hickman. “SpeckTone Retro offers a unique and very cool look, different and more fashionable than anything on the market.”
The SpeckTone Retro features 28 watt output, a 4” subwoofer for “pumping bass”, and two 3” drivers. The analog circuitry inside completes the retro spirit and sound of the product, producing rich, deep tones.
SpeckTone Retro is available in 3 high-gloss lacquered finishes. Go totally retro with the signature green/brown color combo, keep it sleek and modern with the black-on-black, or pay homage to the ‘classic’ iPod look with the white and silver SpeckTone. The integrated iPod dock supports iPod with video, iPod nano, 4G iPods (color and b&w), and iPod mini. iPod Shuffle or other portable devices such as CD players, tape decks or MP3’s can be plugged in thru the 1/8” AUX jack in the back. Product will begin shipping to consumers and retail partners on June 12, 2006 with an MSRP of $149.95.
