In 2003, Discovery released 8BIT FAMILY, a sample collection of vintage videogame sounds. Discovery has released a 2nd edition, 8BIT FAMILY 2, ($55) is a CD-ROM with over 530 MB of 16-bit, 44.1 kHz recording in Acidized WAV, REX2, KONTAKT, BATTERY, RNS for REASON 3.0.4 formats.
The biggest features are “Construction Kits” taking the convenience and a wide range of files containing REASON Song File ‘RNS’.
The biggest part of that collection is given over to 55 construction kits giving the user a longish complete mix and the separate components including Drum Loops, Bass Loops, Synth Loops, Vox Loops. To access those files easily, this CD-ROM also covers a list of the construction kits. The samples are all recorded in a wide variety of styles and tempos.
In addition, this new edition covers larger formats than the first one to expand the users’ production environment. The disc includes a number of samples for RNS format that the user can process and edit as he like, and more over, there are catchy 27 Kontakt programs that enable to perform the light chip music on a keyboard, and useful sound-effects in Wav and Battery formats.
