Marko Ahtisaari’s Music For Airplanes is a lovely long ambient piece, in the spirit of Brian Eno.
It was originally composed for the wedding of two friends.

[display_podcast]The piece was composed for two iPod shuffles and two pairs of muji speakers. Two different sets of short composed sections were loaded onto the iPod shuffles and the players were put in shuffle mode. The resulting generative piece is unique and lasts until the players need to be recharged.
“To me this is a simple exciting new way to make light-weight sound installations,” explains Ahtisaari.
