Sample Magic has announced a new book – The Secrets Of House Music Production.
Description:
After four years producing award-winning sample collections, Sample Magic shares the “secrets” of house music production in this 144-page full-colour book, packed with hundreds of walkthroughs, hints, tips and insights from some of the biggest names in the industry.
All parts of the production process are covered, including: making beats, drum sounds, basslines, structure, instrumentals, FX, mixing, vocals, mastering, remixes, programming ideas and more.
In-depth tutorials reveal the tricks of the pros, with step-by-step tutorials using Logic, Cubase and Ableton. A CD includes 500+MB of samples to get you started.
Secrets of House Music Production is currently available for “pre-order” for £34.95 (plus P&P).
Be wary of companies producing books that tell you you need to buy their products in order to do what it says in the book. This sounds like a 144 page up-sell/soft-sell.
"…packed with hundreds of walkthroughs, hints, tips and insights…" Packed is right. That better be some extremely small type in those 144 pages. This sounds like a jumbled mishmash of stuff you would find from Future Music mag instead of a well written and cohesive tome of knowledge.
" …first time the secrets of house music have ever been fully revealed." Clearly not. Several good books have been written on producing for the genre.
The best in depth (and remarkably *thicker*) electronic dance music book is still Rick Snoman's Dance Music Manual, IMHO.

I agree with you. The Dance Music Manual was worth the money.
er have you actually read it? I've just received mine in time for Xmas and it looks great.

Can anyone let me know if they have read this yet and what they thought?
I found it very helpful, not only for house, but for any genre.
wow – AI – you are a total troll – you dont even have the book so your comments are pure hate –
i have the book – it comes with those 500mb pf sample for free – so you dont need to buy any other samples from Sample magic or anything –
– besides that – the tutorials and walkthroughs are excellent, and there a re loads of them – you should google a few of the reviews from people who have the book instead of just ranting off like a total hater –
for the record – i have rick snowmans dance music manual as well – yes its thick, but it doesnt have any step by step tutorials, has only a titny chapter on house music and is pretty much out of date when it comes to production tricks and tips – so get with the times
