Raagini Digital – electronic tanpura, We call it the indian box and it’s a very basic synthesizer with little possibilities. But it got that exotic new age sound which makes it a bit special.
Recorded using TC konnekt8 running Studio One.

as a tabla and sitar student i have owned one of these for years and i can say that no matter what instrument you play(or if you sing), having a tanpura drone going in the background is awesome!
there is a really awesome iphone/itouch app out called itanpura that kicks ass if this one is too expensive. the app is 15 bucks, but as you can see the harware version is much more. the itanpura app also sounds really damn good! just my 2 cents.
Another vote for iTanpura – it actually does every this thing does plus a lot more like Presets, built-in Swar Mandal (think that's a first!), tune first string to not just pancham, madhyam, nishad, but ANY note or any frequency. It also has TWO tanpuras which can be panned individually. Plus the sound is just amazing!
