New Instrument Half iPad, Half Guitar

This is a demo of the new Misa Digital Guitar – a new instrument that’s half iPad, half guitar.

The touchscreen guitar controller is based on Linux and outputs MIDI, making it compatible with most of the synths and samplers released for the last 25 years.

The Misa Digital Guitar is not intended to emulate traditional guitars, but to explore the possibilities of a guitar MIDI controller:

So don’t compare Misa digital guitars to acoustic guitars or electric guitars. Those are different instruments, for different artforms, for different music. This is electronic music.

That said – it does make a pretty mean electric guitar, as this video demonstrates:

  1. that is very cool, seems like a good combination of traditional form factor + a new way to control sounds. can you play open strings on it?
