New Windows VSTi Offers Awesome Bass, Gratuitous 3D Graphics

Subatomic Labs has introduced Mantis307, “a fat, mean, and rubbery VST synth that was influenced by the similarly raucous sonic stylings of classic analog synths like the tb303, mc202, nord3, OSCar and juno60.”

So if you likes your synths fat, mean and rubbery, you know where to look.

Here’s an example of that fat, mean and rubbery sound:

Mantis307 features unison and distortion, as well as constant time slide (portamento done right!). In addition, 2 oscillators + subosc per voice, sync, mono and polyphonic modes, keyboard tracking, and 3 envelope curve types.

According to Subatomic Labs, Mantis shines when used like a tb303, as a bassline monosynth. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

A demo version is available for download.

  1. it doesn't claim to be a 303. it claims to be aggressive _like_ the 303 and others of that ilk.
it doesn't appear to be a clone at all… but something new, influenced by the old.
