Arturia has introduced The One, a single-box containing every Arturia software instrument and a single license to activate one of them:
The One is a DVD containing 8 of our software products and their manuals. Install 8 of our best virtual products (Analog Factory 2.5, Minimoog V Moog Modular V ARP2600V CS-80V Prophet V Jupiter-8V Brass 2) and use them with no function limitations for 15 days. Once you’ve tried them all out you pick The ONE you want to activate.
The ONE gives you full acces to our powerful products for a 15 days trial period at the end of which you pick your software of choice.
The One retails for USD 249.00 / EURO 229.00 – note that this unlocks one of the synths in the box.
I see, they don't do download license sales, that sucks! I suppose this is a good work around for their limitations.
I think this is also a bad omen for pricing in future. Today you can find individual synths at various prices. If everyone ends up selling just The One you wouldn't get to take advantage of discount offers on individual instruments, and discounts on The One itself would probably flatten out – after all if one etailer dropped their price on The One everyone else would have to follow, and since this would effectively set the minimum price for any one of Arturia's synths (or else buying an individual product is better value, which also doesn't make sense for The One) I bet etailers would be less inclined to do it because they'd just be blowing away their own margins for the whole line.
That's a terrible idea.

wow, really stupid.
if you think about it, like for more than one second, it's actually quite a good idea.
what if you want to order jupiter 8v, and the shop you're in only has "the one" in stock?

So you can buy this for $250 and get one synth, or the 10 year edition for double that and get 8 synths?
I also think it's a bad idea. Maybe if you could install them all and move your license around freely to use any one synth at a time, and you could add licenses, and it didn't cost over $200 per license.
Not that I have bought a single Arturia product since I was younger and they released Storm 3 with some nasty bugs that they promised for months on end to fix and never did.

I admit that I don't get it either. You can download the demo versions on their website and try them out any old time.

I've tried for 5 minutes, but I couldn't think of anything more stupid. arturia?!?

I just looked at Nova Musik website and you can get their entire synth line in one box got $399.00. You can still get V1 of some of their synths for $95.00 and the V2's are $199.00. Math was never my good subject, but this does puzzle me.
They also make a $3,000.00 keyboard now as well. One that doesn't allow you to run it as a standalone version of any of their modeled synths except the Mini.
Dunno. Deathwish?

it is smart in a single sense – few things in this market cause a 'yes but no' feeling amongst many people that will converse over it. you buy something or dont and use it or dont. rarely if ever do you get to buy a bundle and choose a single part of it. this idea, whether brilliant or not, has us talking about it and that is good for arturia. i personally have all included packs with exception to the brass as i prefer to record my friends that play those.
in conclusion:
1) we are talking about it here and that is great for promotion. +1
2) the price is absolute crap. i have seen a jupiter 8 on craigslist here for 150. -1
3) if everyone buys what they want aside from this but 10 people a month then the company makes a profit. (im sure this took very little time to throw together as the vsynths were all created for different distribution prior to this release.) +
= this is a win for the company as the included products are available separately but some will still buy this 'bundle'

I can only come up with one comment: "The search for more (easy) money".
I wasn't sure what to make of The One. Seems like a sensible use of the DVD disk space – but not sure it's a big selling point.

this exists in order to make things more convenient and simpler from a distribution standpoint.
no need to stock five different things…now you just stock one box which can 'become' everything else.
"The search for more (easy) money"
Arturia is a business. This reduces the needs for 8 separate boxes, and all the printing, packaging and shipping that comes with it. It's not exactly going to convince anyone to buy their products who wasn't already, but it certainly makes it easier to get hold of them and choose the right one if you do.
