The DSP Project’s Rupert Brown explains the mysteries of gate sidechaining and how to use Ableton Live to create rhythmic gate effects.
Nice demo, eh?
How about a little love for Mr. Brown?

The first thing I thought when I saw this movie was: "Oh dear, another story". Yes, its a load of bias and I plea guilty 🙂
Fortunately this wasn't the case. In contrast to some previous movie(s?) this one actually shows you how stuff works. Not going to comment on the details since this stuff is kinda old news to me, but I can well imagine that someone might actually learn something from this.
One small word of criticism however (hey, I claim to be a critic so I have a reputation to consider ;-)) is that Ableton themselves have done such an example 7 months ago. When you check out the "AbletonInc" youtube group you'll soon find a movie called "Sidechain compression in Ableton Live 8". URL here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQnOQWLURFU
That doesn't really change much, IMO you should go see both movies. Because when listening to something being explained from two different people you might actually pick up details which eluded you during the first tutorial.
