This Switched On Beethoven track, the Adagio from Moonlight Sonata, comes from a library music album, Synthesized Classical Music, by Paul Durango and Alden Volney,
The tracks were recorded with analog synths and Mellotron-style tape playback keyboards.
Stuff like this contributed to perception that synthesizer musicians… I'm trying to find the words….Hmmm… I'm glad we've gone way beyond this in 2010.
EGG-Y WEGS!
I wanna… SMASH EM!
OOOOO Wendy Carlos is gonna be pissed.
It's a relatively poor example of synth music and overall interpretation of classical music. It sounds like it was played by a sequencer in stark contrast to the nice interpretations (from a purely musical standpoint) that Wendy Carlos did with dynamic and tempo changes. I wish we had more of that using the palette of synthetic sounds available today. It would be a relief from the crap that permeates electronic music since the big sell out of the Techno movement in the nineties or so.
Adequate, but uninspiring timbres.
