Jean Michel Jarre’s 101010

Jean Michel Jarre has released Sequel to 101010, excerpts from the “self-pirated” transmission of the Jean Michel Jarre performance at the O2 Arena in London on the 10/10/10.

While it’s always nice to see something new from Jarre, the visuals on this seem to be in competition with the music. We’d love to see Jarre experiment with releasing the source audio and video files for this show and see what fans come up with. See NIN’s crowd-sourced concert film to a successful example of this.

  1. I'm confused as to what people see in this guy. I don't hate his music by any means, but don't love it either. This will probably be viewed as me being an ass or being sarcastic but I'm genuinely interested. Why is he so famous?

the music and the live shows he did in the 70s and 80s were like something from the future 🙂 when I was a kid I would watch videos from his live performances and I was just blown away by the sounds and lights.. there would be like a million people (literally), it was really cool!

If you like synth music you must listen to his older albums, his new stuff is nowhere as good.

Try these: Oxygen, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields, Chronologie..

His music is a fusion of different styles.. I think he's a great musician.

Check out this track: Revolutions, don't freak out by the 80s images and sounds! 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt82NrHrfa8

  3. DJMonikr – artists like Jarre helped create a new genre of synth music in a time when synths were being used primarily for experimental music, prog rock and novelty music.

Just as important, though, is that he's a performer and puts on a show that audiences love.
