Free Presets For Native Instruments Massive

Developer Durk Kooistra released a free collection of 10 presets for Native Instruments Massive, Bass Hive.

You can preview the free Massive patches above.

Here’s what Kooistra has to say about Bass Hive:

I love NI’s Massive synth. It’s sounds rich, with an intuitive UI and has some unique functionality. Like the stepped LFO and drag and drop on virtually any parameter. These patches are a teaser of what is still to come. I am working on some tutorials an perhaps a preset bank for Massive. For now enjoy these freebies and subscribe to stay up to date about my future NI Massive projects.

  1. I love Massive, too. It really does have some lo-frequenct "oomph", and it's great at sounding *really* digital. The interface is, in my opinion, *the best* I've ever used… once I got used to it. There's a wee hump at the start of the learning curve.

I do actually think that, in the end, you can get most of the same functionality and sound out of Vember's Surge and Audjoo's Helix, and you can almost get both of those for the same price as Massive itself. My mistake when first approaching Massive (before I bought it) was that it was supposed to be this… well… massive, analog-sounding bass-monster. And that's something it's capable of, sure. But underneath it all, it's about flexible and intuitive modulations on a wavetable synth… and approached in that light, it's really one of the best synths available.

Definitely in my top five. My only real complaint is that is kind of has that wispy, clinical Native Instruments quality to it. You can minimize that with clever modulations, I suppose, but it doesn't come easily, and doing so puts a dent in your CPU.

Anyway. Just babbling. As it turns out, I really don't need any more bass presets for Massive, so I've passed on this link. 🙂 But, still, good to see. 😀

  2. Got to say I love Massive too. It is truly intuitive and got all the sounds I want both for bass and high pitched solos as well. Have been using it on almost every song since I bought it. In fact, sometimes I use it ten times in a track and layer it up also.

Don't know if I agree that it sounds clinical. Usually I use effects on all my synths anyway, because I don't want a generic sound.

    Definitely my favorite synth!
