  1. I remember when I first started using this in 2000 and my boy (Hardware User at the Time) used to laugh at me, talking about “You making beats on the computer? lol, You can’t Sequence on that.” I just used to SMH. It took him 9 Years to catch up to my Work Flow. lol

  2. It's just like any other software, it takes a tiny touch of slogging through the bad until you really get used to the interface.

  3. Impressive! No pun intended here but I've always liked the videos around FL studio very much, their music score has a big influence on that. This one is no different. Very cool, really pulls me in so to speak..

As to FL Studio itself I agree with dajebus here. When I tested this critter, now almost one year ago, I too couldn't get myself to understand one bit of it. Of course; being totally new to DAWs in general back then didn't really help much either 🙂

Still… FL studio is one of the programs I like to keep an eye out for. Just curiosity; checking videos, seeing how it works in general etc. I maybe a "FL noob", there's no denying the potential it has here.

Say; what is it with the pitch correction these days? Maybe its my imagination, but ever since the Props started hyping their Neptune pitch corrector its almost as if many other companies are now picking up on that as well. Here too; one of the key features is… pitch correction.

When I got totally sucked into N.I.'s 50% discount hunt the last days one of the things I picked up was "The Mouth"; guess what? -=> "THE MOUTH works by detecting the pitch of an incoming audio signal which is then auto-tuned to a selected musical scale or notes from a MIDI device – so your creations always stays in tune.".

Am I seeing things here? 😉

  4. I consider myself an ex-FL studio user. I used FL tons back between 2002-2004 along with Sonar and Live. I really like the step-sequencer mentality for making "patterns" but never liked the song mode or how it dealt with audio much. When Live 6 released, I went 100% with Live.
After trying out the demo I have to say I'm quite impressed with Pitcher and Newtone and picked them up "pay what you think it's worth". I love the look of Pitcher especially.

I don't have a huge need for pitch correction, but FL's free upgrade policy and deals to get you into new plugins are keeping FL relevant enough for me to keep a copy on my system. If I do need to do pitch correction (more for mangling something) , I'll be using FL.

  5. One thing I do know, its way better then Garage Band. Haha

But seriuosly, my friend just bought a JP8000, we were going to make some awesome trance music, the thing is, we torrented this FL Studio software and we have no idea how to use it? We want to make really high quality, profesional beats. But we dont know how?

Is it even possible to create such a thing with this new download? All that “HD” beats on the radio, is it possible to recreat such things? Or do I need to call up Snoop Dawg, or Dr. Dre to make those beats?

    1. Hey…all you you need is the Fl Studio Bible….it gives you everything you need….tutorials on every bit of fl studio and their plug-ins….Plus, you can find it anywhere…
Personally, Ive been using fl studio for more then 2 and a half years and I'm still learning sometime something new about it. (Give yourself at least 1-3 years to master it).
Oh and here is a tip: Dont start making BIG projects….start with little projects…especially with you melodies….Oh and use plug-ins for your effects and synthesizers. GOOD luck!

  6. Words of wisdom… spend your money on something that will be future proof. FL Studio will always be limited to a 32 bit host and only handle 32 bit NATIVE plugins.

Don't be fooled by the "hype", there are tons of tedious workarounds and short comings. FL Studio is not only difficult to begin with, it's even more difficult to end with. The audio editing, comping and manipulation requires a separate plugin (edison) just to do simple tasks.

Most of their new plugins are all boughten technology from 3rd party plugin makers. That's how they developed pitcher to begin with, ripping off zplanes newtone code. Be warned and aware of what you're buying into.

If you already own free updates for life, well then it doesn't really matter. But be aware that 32 bit applications will no longer be supported by future windows o/s in about 6 years or less. So enjoy it while you can.

If you're serious about your music and want your DAW to be future proof. Then invest into a reputable company with it's customers as it's priority. Check out Sonar X1, it has all the features you could ever want for less the FL Studio and with tons more quality.

You can easily tell a FL Studio song by it's 1990's effects suite, that sounds like metallic fingernails on a chalkboard. Plan on buying lots of 3rd party plugins if you go their route.

  7. As if 32 bit is a bad thing…

Alas; 64bit environments are perfectly capable to support 32bit applications. And well; just because some new crappy OS comes out doesn't imply everyone will need to upgrade ASAP 🙂

  8. 32 bit is slower. 32 bit is older. 32 bit will be defunct. How else can you say it.

If you don't have a 64 bit o/s right now, you will. If you don't mind 4GB memory restrictions so be it. If you like to bridge out all your 32 bit plugins and share RAM and CPU between each instance, go for it. Workarounds with FL Studio are common place, the reason you're probably used to it.

When you're ready to step into the future and safe guard yourself for what's to come. Then prepare now and protect yourself from an outdated and time limited piece of software. Why let a couple applications stop you from harnessing all the power you paid for.

The new i7s wasn't meant to have a governor on them. Why limit your power, cpu, memory and work flow for an outdated and prehistoric piece of software. It's like buying a Ferrari only to drive it 60 mphs. If you want that, download a free DAW, there's about 10 of them.

Maybe if you minimize the impact of 32 bit down shifting has on your system. You can pretend it's nothing. But when you have a very large project with lots of tracks and plugins, you'll soon be singing my song. Hopefully you won't be $199 broker when you do.

  9. I see the hype really got to you…

You do realize that with current modern multi-core PC's memory is basically divided across cores? Just saying because some people who are really happy with 8Gb on their shiny new PC seem to be unaware that per-core its actually the same old 4Gb.

  10. Sadly your excuses keep missing the point. FL Studio is forever limited to whats left of the 3+ GB after the o/s, host, instance of bridge and every single plugin has taken from the pool of memory. Maybe once your projects require such processing, you'll actually see the required process and not skip any details. Because we all know all the good stuff is in the details.

  11. lol FL use third party developers….my God, I cant think of another DAW developer that would do such a thing. Certainly Steinberk, Caketalk and Fableton would never stoop to such cheating tactics….oh wait…

  12. You really are a bit slow. FL Studio isn't "forever limited" to anything. Eventually IL will upgrade it to full 64-bit model, presumably even if that means jumping platform. Just because they're not switching _right now_ you seem to have your panties all in a twist. You really should change those panties, btw, they're really starting to smell.
