  1. Nothing stood out too much this year.

The Eno release was a dissapointment, the Goldfrapp was weak, The Tron Legacy soundtrack goes nowhere, Aphex Twin was MIA.

Wake me when 2011 comes around.

    PS: This list sucks.

  2. It was a stellar year for me, here are my favourite albuns of this year:

    Kavinsky – Nightcall EP
    Faithless – The Dance
    Underworld – Barking
    Chemical Brothers – Further
Orbital – Can't Stop Me // The Gun is Good EP
Daft Punk – Tron Legacy OST

I also made quite a few album releases this year, truly 2010 was the best year ever music wise.

  8. I don't buy much "new" music. …I wait until I hear a recommendation or a track comes up a couple times before I go out and buy something.

That said, I did grab The Social Network… meh. And How to Destroy Angels… which was on my playlist pretty solidly for about a month before it got a little old… I'd still call it a decent download.

I also bought the Tron soundtrack. It's… okay. I like some bits of it, but it's not making me jump out of my seat.

You can also grab a few cool albums for free (CC-by) on kahvi.org… and I've been letting a few of those percolate on the playlist this year. "Fragments" from Bad Loop, "Songs from the Season Labs" is a good one by Polygon Ring, and "Les Introvertis Chroniques" from Starcade, and "Attitude Indicator" by Welldroid. …That last one has been growing on me.

I've also been enjoying listening to attorks.nl (Martin Peters) Berlin School stuff, which is another free download.

…If iamamiwhoami had released an album this year, that would have been interesting, at least. 🙂

All in all, I agree that it was a slow year for electronic music. :

  14. 1. Simian Mobile Disco – Delicacies
    2. Chemical Brothers – Further
    3. Underworld – Barking
    4. Röyksopp – Senior

I can’t think of any others. I’m still making my way through the new Tentemøller and Deadmau5 records. LCD Soundsystem was really good. Golfrapp was catchy. The ones I mentioned definitely went a little deeper than some of these. Especially SMD. Love it.

    1. Loved Senior. The new SMD album really bothered me. Way too many guest vocalists for my tastes. I felt it wasn't nearly as listenable as ADSR.

  16. Just remembered Max Cooper. I spent a lot of time this year listening to some of his most recent mixes. Really excellent minimal stuff and REALLY electronic. (I'm not sure, but I think it's a Mono/Poly put to good use in a lot of it.)

  23. From that list, I do really dig the Gold Panda album. The Social Network OST is pretty nice, too. Also, I *may* listen to Robyn in a guilty-pop-pleasure sort of way, but I am not admitting that.

Other standouts that come to mind for me:

Emeralds – Does it Look Like I'm Here?
Umberto – Prophesy of the Black Widow
    Stretta – A Funneled Stone
    Baths – Cerulean
    SONOIO – SONOIO
    Flying Lotus – Cosmogramma
Deru – Say Goodbye to Useless
Holy Fuck – Latin (count as 'electronic'?)

I felt the same way about The Social Network – the music seemed a bit too much like leftovers from the Ghosts sessions.

The Klaus Schulze/Lisa Gerrard collaboration Dziekuje Bardzo was magically delicious, some of the best work from Schulze in a long time.

Have to agree on Attorks.nl. Two other artists that have been featured on Synthtopia, Stretta & Carl Sagan's Ghost, both put out some very interesting music this year, too.

Love everybody's suggestions – I've got a lot of music to check out in iTunes!

  35. Sorry, but I went back to 1992 this year. Maybe if Human Imprint made a new album I would have listened to something more contemporary. Something good better come out this year (doubt it) because I am seriously running out of stuff to keep me interested.

  36. Autechre's Oversteps and Crystal Castles were the ones that have held my attention this past year. I've either forgotten about or haven't yet experienced the rest of 2010's electronic offerings.
