The latest episode of Electronic Independence features electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick.
Subotnick gives a tour of his New York studio and discusses his career, working with Don Buchla, the Buchla Series 100 modular synthesizer and working with Ableton Live.
Along the way, Subotnick gives some fantastic insight into the history of electronic music and the development of the Buchla.
Fantastic, I'm glad that the interviewer did not bother the subject with his stupid questions. It's great to hear one of the pioneers of electronic music just talk about how it all happened. One question remains: Is that a calculator on his desk? I could imagine that someone like him would use it in his work.
