Steve Freedom’s Camgesture In Paradise video demonstrates a sort of Ableton theremin – or at least an interesting variation on gestural musc sequencing.
We’ve seen similar Kinect-driven experiments, but not a lot using the built-in cameras that are available on most laptops.
Freedom’s experimental electronic music is made by translating hand gestures tracked by Quartz Composer and webcam, into OSC then Midi and sending on to Ableton to trigger Spectrasonics Omnisphere and RMX.
