Wow. Check out that VL-1’s sweet display! Nice piece of vintage kit.
VL-1 was my first 'keyboard'. Later, I busted it open and wired in a paddle controller pot from an Atari VCS. Early 80's circuit bending indeed.
But does the OP-1 include a four-function calculator? Huh?
Four? The Casio does percent and square root too….
Still have the one I bought, in London, in 1981.
I wish I had the Dieter Rams shortwave set to complete this set: http://blog.wanken.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08…

I wish I had one of those, too!
From the OP-1 manual:
"Press SHIFT + Help key to enter TOOLS. Here you set the time and date, and maybe you'll find a calculator here in the future…"
1. Teenage Engineering is aware of the Casio references
2. They have a sense of humor
I have a Casio VL-1 in mint For my music buddies to use otherwise it's just a calc. here.
This reminds me of seeing the link between Star Trek:TNG's PADDs and the real iPad — and I imagine another couple decades forward and what will be available to us then?
