DAW Remote (App Store link) is a $2.99 wireless DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) controller, optimized for Apple Logic.
Instead of getting stuck in front of your computer to compose, record, and produce music/audio, you can use your iPhone/iPod with DAW Remote to control DAW functions anywhere in your studio (wirelessly).
Why? Because let’s face it, wires suck!
Features:
- Lightweight. Essential functions to accelerate your workflow.
- Track Control. Record, Mute, Solo, and Track Selector.
- Markers Control. Add, Delete markers. Quickly jump to previous and next marker.
- Playback Control. Play/Pause, Record, Stop
- Jog Wheel Mode (with speed adjustment). Quickly seek the right location of your song.
- Shuttle Wheel Mode. Rewind and Forward in a creativity way.
- Remote Project Save.
- Use Wi-Fi to connect with host computer
- No extra drivers required.
DAW Remote is optimized for Apple Logic, but it’s also compatible with Pro Tools, Sonar, Logic, Cubase and other MIDI-enabled-softwares, like Ableton Live. DAW Remote uses Apple Bonjour over a WIFI network.
Note: DAW Remote is only for MAC users.
But why would you want to do this? Why is using my phone to stop/start easier/better than using the space bar I use without even thinking about it, to control my DAW? Just coz you can dont mean you should! 🙂
Its handy if you are recording yourself in one room running cables to a computer in another and want to hit record
Thumb up. BTW DAW Remote 2.0 is coming. ProTools and windows have been supported.
just because you can’t see a use for a tool in no way means it may not be useful to others. for me this is a GREAT tool! I can sit at the drumkit in the other room and control the session… BOOM!!
when im making music in the studio, im more in front of my computer than my phone, hence Andy H comment.. Space bar! .. agreed!

why dont you two get ipod touches and stop complaining.
Although I'm using Saitara's AC-7 Core software on my iPad, the reason you want to have a little more control in a remote situation is if you want to record something acoustically away from your computer to cut down on spillover sound from the computer itself.
My leyboards are on the other side of the room from my computer … a remote is most essential.
Would be very useful for me if it were compatible with Pro Tools – make that happen and you’ll make lots of $$$$.
Its essential for musicians who record actual instruments on their own. The scenario I have is hit record run over to my drum kit, throw my cans on and then try and setlle in for a take – hard to do. I can see myself getting lot more usefull takes. Same scenario when I’m recording my band, the amount of times I have missed the start of a song cause I,m messing around with my laptop – this will make life easier. The guys that don’t understand that are obviously doing remixes in fruityloops or whatever techno guys use these days 🙂 I don’t actually own an iphone/pod but am considering buying one just for this app.
I’ve just got the updated DAW Remote 2.0. wow, Pro Tools, Live, and Logic are all supported, many other functions has been added, nice for remote recording!
