Peter Pringle shared this humorous vintage look at the theremin, from an appearance by thereminist Dr. Samuel Hoffman on the Johnny Carson show in 1956.

Hoffman is one of the most widely recorded thereminists in history, playing on scores for movies like Spellbound, Rocketship X-M, The Day The Earth Stood Still & The Ten Commandments and on some classic early exotica albums with Les Baxter.

The 1929 RCA theremin Hoffman plays in this clip is now owned by Pringle.
