Avid has introduced the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 – a portable USB-powered 32-note keyboard MIDI controller that works plug-and-play with computer or iPad.
Nick from Sonic State took a look at the Keystation MINI and has this video review of the mini-key controller.
The Keystation lists for $99.99, but is retailing for around $75.
M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 Features:
- 32 low-profile, velocity-sensitive mini-keys
- 4 assignable controls—three buttons and a knob – offer real-time control of your DAW and virtual instruments
- Selectable velocity curves including one for drum programming – customize the keyboard to your playing style.
- USB bus-powered and class compliant – easy plug-and-play operation with your computer or iPad.
Looks lovely, but I’d need for the keys to be three times that size to even remotely make use of it. My hands are a great size for piano, but not so much for the brave new world of teensy, button-like devices. One-finger playing is certainly respectable for a fair number of things, but if you stop there, you’re missing out on a larger world of weirdness. I recommend traditional keys as a main tool. IMO, its a vital anchor for touch pads, any free-standing rhythm device and all of your softsynths.
Can this work for the iPhone 4S??
