The Electronic Music Works WCS-1 Wave Composition Synthesizer (Sneak Preview)

This video, via PS Project, is a demo of the new WCS-1 Wave Composition Synthesizer.

We haven’t seen an official announcement on the WCS-1 synthesizer yet, but here’s what PS Project has to say about it:

Demonstration video of our new synthesizer module.

The WCS-1 utilizes an additive digital oscillator followed by discrete analog circuits.
Incredible bass sounds, leads, effects and exclusive timbres can be generated with this incredible synth module.

Here’s a second demo, featuring the WCS-1 sequenced by the V-Synth’s arpeggiator.

If anybody’s got additional info on the WCS-1, let us know about it in the comments!

  1. Agree with the above poster, it sounds pretty cool. Hopefully it’ll be relatively cheap and if that’s the case I might pick one up. It’s amazing how much can be done with only one oscillator.

  2. So the keyboard (isn’t that a microKorg?) is only used for the MIDI control? If that’s the case, I’m relatively interested in hearing more about this machine.

It looks a bit like a sturdier Dark Energy.

  3. The sounds are very 1970s ‘Dr Who’; in other words, this little box seems to be able to do as much as the Delaware was ever asked to do by the Radiophonic Workshop (an almost criminally under-utilized Synthi 100 IMHO).
