In 1974 10CC recorded their third album, The Original Soundtrack. The album featured a song I’m Not In Love, written by Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman, that was a production masterpiece, featuring amazing, ethereal choral parts.
Now Sampletekk has released INIL Choir, a new sample library based on the 10cc I’m Not In Love choir.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
These choirs are unique. There’s simply nothing else like them! The combination of voices and the way they where produced have given them a sound that’s truly one of a kind.
Now, SampleTekk, in cooperation with Eric Stewart of 10CC, are very proud to release of The INIL Choir, thus taking one of the most famous analogue samples into the digital era.
INIL Choir is available now for $49. See the site for audio demos and details.
Fun Fact…
Graham Gouldman wrote The 1966 Hollies hit Bus Stop when he was 16 years old.
There is a terrific article on Sound On Sounds website that goes in to detail about how these washes of voices were produced and recorded.
He also wrote another top ten hit a year earlier for The Yardbirds, “For your Love” – great song, but it also became the catalyst for Eric Clapton leaving the group to join John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, as Eric didn’t like the more commercial direction the band was taking (also no guitar on the record – Harpsocord instead!) Jeff Beck was his replacement…and blew him away!
Another great record produced in greater Manchester. The north can’t be beaten musically.
common guys that sounded really terrible. There is only one song were this choir sounded good.
