Developer Amedeo Farello sent word about his Mac software editor for the Roland GI-20 GK-MIDI guitar interface:
I have just completed version 2.0 of GI20Editor.
Besides being the only alternative to programming the device through a knob, a two digit display and a few buttons, GI20Editor can greatly simplify the guitar/synthesizer connection experienced through the GI-20.
While still giving clear access to all the GI-20 parameters, driving a synthesizer directly and doing the usual editing and file operations, version 2 introduces the following new features:
- A “paste special” command to apply only selected changes, possibly extending them to all patches at once
- Emulation of GI-20 MIDI messages, to quickly try different sounds without the need of a “bulk load”
- Auxiliary MIDI system exclusive, bank select and program change messages, for a more accurate setup of the synthesizer when selecting a patch
- String grouping for faster editing
The new version has a revised interface and a comprehensive user manual is available.
GI20Editor is available now in the Mac App Store at $13.99.
Does GI20Editor work on OSX Lion? I just purchased a GI-20 on eBay, and the Roland website says there is no driver support for the device on Lion. Is GI20Editor a work-around for this issue?
Hi. I just downloaded the app on my Mac.. seems to be working fine.. says that i’m online according to the app, but I can’t change the patches from the app and coordinate it with my GI-20.
Hi Pat,
Where did you download this from as I can’t seem to be able to find a licensed version of this software in the Appstore. The other 2 Applications by this developer are available but not the GI Editor..
