AfroDJMac has gone MacGyver this week, creating a free instrument for Ableton Live that’s based on the sound of a rubberband – as demonstrated by his cat in this video.
Here’s what he’s got to say about this bizarre creation:
AfroDJMac here, writing about my 65th free Ableton Instrument. It was made by recording a rubber band with a contact mic. I just got a homemade contact mic from Creme Dementia and love it. The sound of the instrument is reminiscent of an upright bass, but it can be mangled and morphed into other worldliness with the fx and fm oscillation I added to it. Enjoy!
Details and download are available at the AfroDJMac site.
I doubt it’s really useful, but why not.
More instruments played by cats!
I’ve often described my music as the result of putting cats in a room full of synthesizers.
Trust me putting cats in a room full of synthesizers does not turn out well.
His 32nd instrument pack was cool. The one with the recording of his dog licking his balls that could be tempo synced
Might use this rubber for my psytrance bassline and the fx sounds for … Well fx and leads 😛 Thanks
I think his stuff is as useful as an Ableton tutorial as it is as an instrument. I always learn something new from his vids.
