Partikkel Audio has released Hadron – described as the ‘ultimate granular synthesis tool’ – as a free download.
“In fact,” notes the developer, “it is such a complete implementation of granular synthesis , that we’ve renamed the technique to ‘particle synthesis’.”
Hadron is free and open source.
Hadron Particle Synthesizer
Hadron can be used as a synthesizer or an audio effect. It can seamlessly morph between different sound processing methods, so you can make the plugin gradually change from synthesizer to audio processing mode. This is all part of the state morphing system, accessible via a 2D joystick control.
You can also use live sampling as a sound source for manipulation with Hadron, as well as audio files and live audio input.
Here’s a demo of Hadron with live input:
Downloads for Windows & Mac, along with the source code, are available at the Partikkel site.
If you’ve used Hadron, let us know what you think of it!
Nice! there is even an installer for osx 10.5 . Thanks Partikkel Audio!
Love this!!!! Free too? Amazing. Really cool tool for chopping stuff up and easy to use. Thanks!!
Next step: iPad app
Because there are not enough granular synthesis iPad apps.
There can never be enough granular synths anywere 🙂
Indeed – Check out Ellipsynth a new one of jhh Lowengard’s marvelous apps – granular and audio resynthisis and sonoma wireworks support… Feed your head…
What a great demo video. Only showed the Lemur setup and not a single frame of the synth. Thats the way to do it.
That being said, sounds cool 🙂
Better than just a Vocoder! 😉
Tried to download this, entered my email, site says an email was sent with a download link but no….no email sent. Very irritating.
