2013 NAMM Show: IK Multimedia has announced iLoud, stereo speakers designed for portability.
The iLoud line consists of two models, iLoud and iLoud MINI, both of which they say provide ‘sonic accuracy that’s on par with professional studio monitors’. The iLoud model offers 40W RMS of power, and its little brother, iLoud MINI,12W RMS.

if ns10s were once consumer speakers in the 80s that became studio monitors, why aren’t we doing our mixes on mp3 speakers today?

(*) I’m very sure. At least they insisted on playing all our mixes through crappy car speakers in the 90’s.
Can’t imagine engineers have become less obsessive since then.
I check my mixes on iPod earbuds and my phone speaker for comparison purposes, and I know a lot of others who do similar things. Flat response monitors can only get you so far

Do these have Lightning connectors? How does the larger one work with n iPad, since the other one has something like a dock?

Not quite sure where and when this hatred towards IK started, but lets just give them the benefit of doubt for a moment and reserve our final judgement until we see some reviews after official release please… 😉
Asking a gear snob to be rational is like asking a puppy not to piss on the floor. You can say it all you like, but eventually you’re going to have to roll up a newspaper and smack them on the nose to make your point
60-20, flat response, 300$ i bet these are a great portable monitoring system if not the best boom box ever, its even got bluetooth and a mic … not bad.
fwiw, the behringer ms16 (roland clone) are (sort of) portable and are actually quite revealing
