BeepStreet has released an update to Impaktor – its iOS percussion synth – adding AudioBus support and more.
Here’s what’s new in Impaktor 1.2:
- Introducing Audiobus support: stream live audio directly to other Audiobus-enabled apps.
- DropBox sharing
- Configurable latency: from 128 to 512 frames
- Configurable number of loops to bounce
- Tap tempo
- Bug fixes and performance improvements
Impaktor is available in the App Store for US $4.99.
If you’ve used Impaktor, let us know what you think of it!
I have a Roland RM-2 (an electronic drum head for practice). It has Trigger outputs. I also have one of those iRig adapters for plugging guitars, etc into your headphone jack. These two things combined make Impaktor usable as a performance instrument. You normally have to use headphones in a quiet room or you’ll get unintended drum input.
Aside from that, I really like the sound engine and I like PLAYING with it too. It releases my inner drum-circle-hippy. Really handy for adding more natural rhythms to tracks or making samples for other apps.
That’s a brilliant idea. I’ve got one of those iRig adapters too – wonder if I can hook it up to my modular synth? 🙂
Sounds great set up like this through the A4
I use Impaktor with a $2 usb soundcard from ebay and a Rock Band drum pad plugged into it (basically a piezo mic drumpad). Works really well!
I too am using an iRig with an older Yamaha single-zone pad. Works great, even just using fingers / hands. I really, really like this app – I’ve basically dedicated one of my iPod Touches to it for live use.
But one needs to be a little careful, as you can create / tweak sounds that have the potential to cause speaker (or ear) damage if you overdo the frequencies. Make your subwoofer beg for mercy!
Remember, Impaktor doesn’t only react to beat. Btw, if you’re at all interested in sound and you haven’t got this app yet, what are you waiting for? Its a jewel and light as a feather. Surprising and soooo much fun 🙂 As a melomaniac, I’d like to thank the person who got the idea for this app. As a music maker I’m very grateful for the audiobus compatibility.
