The same thing is true of the MS-20 that’s true of a MiniMoog: You don’t hear their best voices until they’re effected. A friend owned an MS-20 and MS-10. Even cascaded as a single voice, they just sounded thin where the Mini had a notable edge in fullness. However, when we added delay or reverb, that playing field leveled out like mad. The MS is particularly good for high-pass patches, somehow. The MonoPoly was much the same, to my ears. I grew away from modulars a while back, but I’m happy to see the MS back as hardware. Its going to get a lot of luv.

The MS has an especially nice high-pass sound, so we just played into its strengths. I moved past modulars a while back, but I had fun learning to program the old-school way. I’m a better synthesist for it, so I’m happy to see the MS return. It’ll be getting a lot of luv.
