Here’s a look at the vintage 1984 Sequential Circuits Drumtraks drum machine.
Via AnalogAudio1, who notes:
It is a great American drum machine. It is very flexible – for every beat and every sound in a pattern you can set volume and pitch to your needs, similar to the E-mu SP-12. It has a groovy sequencer! One of my favourite drum machines.
It is a studio machine with single outputs for drumsounds, MIDI, Clock IN/OUT and more…

I had one of these when new,it cost a thousand. Last week bought an Arturia sparkle it does the drumtracks thing and plenty more for two hundred. Progress is great.
I did love my drumtracks. Don’t miss it, it had good swing but a limited sound set, it replace a drumulator, never missed that.
Great hardware, so-so sounds.
I had one of these in the early 200’s when the sounds were decidedly not in vogue. I tried compressing the shit out of it to fix that flabby kick to no avail. Now it’s perfect for some nu-disco retro shoegaze sound. But I was trying to make it sound like a 909! No way! 🙂
