Sweetwater’s GearFest ‘13, a music gear festival, takes place this Friday, June 21st from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, June 22nd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 5501 US Hwy 30 W, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
GearFest is free and open to the public.
Sweetwater describes GearFest as ‘part trade show, part entertainment event, part flea market, and part musicians’ toyland’,
Gearfest ’13 will be an indoor/outdoor festival featuring live music, food, prizes and fun for the entire family. This year’s expo is bigger than ever, with two days full of dozens of informative workshops and seminars, scores of manufacturer exhibits, musical performances, and more.
More than 200 manufacturers of musical instruments, music technology, and audio equipment will be on hand to give musicians a look at the latest gear.
This year’s featured speakers include guitarist Bill Kelliher, bass player Billy Sheehan, drummer Terry Bozzio, record producer Jack Douglas, producer/engineer Frank Filipetti, power pop band Fountains of Wayne, producer/engineer Fab Dupont, mixer Chris Lord-Alge, and many others.
To speed up the registration process at the festival, you can pre-register online. For more information, call (800) 222-4700. See the Sweetwater site for more details and travel info.
I seriously envy you guys over in the States sometimes. You have so many events like this to go to without having to shed out the kind of money for an airline ticket that could buy you a decent synth these days. For us Europeans it’s a little different (at least for those of us living up here in snowy Norway..)
Anyway, I hope a good time is had by all who DO make it to Gearfest 2013! 🙂
Well, it’s not that close to me either and I live in the U.S. Ft. Wayne IN is over 2000 miles from my home in California — as much as I would like to go, it’s sill a longish and expensive plane flight for me as well.
GearFest is fun because it is focused on end users, unlike an industry event line NAMM.
If you’re within driving distance, it makes a fun weekend trip.
