The Korg Volca line was one of the most enthusiastically received introductions at Musikmesse 2013.
Lots of readers are excited to get their hands on the Volca Keys, Volca Beats and Volca Bass. Nick Batt of sonicstate has the new analog trio in his Lab and, in this video, he takes a look at the Volca Beats – a low-cost analog drum machine.
Check it out and let us know what you think of the Volca Beats!
As an experimental musician this looks intriguing and could be perfect for quirky-type minimal percussion. Great review as always from Sonic Lab. Looks kinda like an MFB 522 little brother perhaps. Although patch volume could be an issue like Nick said.)
I think they’re already a mod for 6 line outs 😉
Didn’t watch all the way to the end, but didn’t he only say that it was not velocity sensitive? The volume of each sound source is adjustable though.
Great review Nick. This little box keeps impressing me epically the PCM.
Wait. It doesn’t have MIDI out?????
It does not have MIDI output ready to go, but you can hack it to have MIDI out:

I thought the same thing. He seemed rushed.
Always nice to see Nick’s reviews and this one is no exception 🙂
Great review 🙂
