Arturia has announced its KeyLab series of MIDI keyboard controllers with the new accompanying Analog Lab synthesizer software are now shipping. The KeyLab controllers come in three sizes: there are 25-, 49, and 61-key models from which to choose.
The smallest, most lightweight model, KeyLab 25, features 25 (duh) full-size keys with velocity sensitivity. In addition, the panel inlcudes: two clickable encoders,12 encoders, nine sliders, pitch bend and modulation wheels, six backlit transport controls, 15 back-lit buttons, octave up/down buttons, and a 32-digit LED screen to aid software navigation.
Aluminum construction with wooden end cheeks, the KeyLab 25 also has rear panel-mounted MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, Expression Pedal, Sustain Pedal, Aux foot switch, Breath control, and USB connections.
The larger KeyLab 49 and KeyLab 61 MIDI keyboard controllers maximize performance with both aftertouch and velocity sensitivity, along with a more extensive set of physical controls including an additional 16 back-lit pressure-sensitive pads.
All three keyboard controllers are bundled with an all-new version of Arturia’s Analog Lab synthesizer software solution. Analog Lab adapts its interface to match whichever KeyLab controller is connected. Important parameters are pre-mapped to the MIDI keyboard controllers themselves, giving users control over the library of 5,000 presets.
These Analog Lab presets are taken from all eight of Arturia’s TAE (True Analog Emulation) synthesis-powered Mini V, Modular V, CS-80V, ARP2600 V, Jupiter-8V, Prophet 5, Prophet VS, and Oberheim SEM V soft synths, as well as the Wurlitzer V software recreation of the classic Wurlitzer 200A electric piano.
Multi mode allows several sounds to be played simultaneously with the addition of effects, layer/split functions, with 200 Multi patches organized by musical genre. Live mode allows the user to drag and drop sounds and multis to create a selection of presets for use with whichever KeyLab controller is connected.

The 49 looks like the perfect Ableton controller.
does anyone really take a $300 keyboard over to the cafe so they can jam out at lunch?
No. I do take my OP-1 to coffee shops regularly to perform/record. But it doesn’t cost $300.
Hoska!
