Tone 2 has announced that it has released their new software synthesizer, Nemesis.
Here’s what they have to say about Nemesis:
Nemesis takes FM synthesis to its next evolutionary step: NeoFM synthesis. NeoFM and several other innovative synthesis methods are exclusively available in Nemesis. Nemesis is inspiring, extremely powerful, features an easy-to-use interface, has a huge sonic range and offers outstanding sound quality.
Nemesis Features:
- Offers a new and user-friendly approach to FM synthesis. Nemesis makes FM synthesis accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience.
- Easy to tweak presets or program your own sounds with.
- NeoFM covers all important aspects of traditional FM synthesis, but is in no way limited only to bell-style sounds. It offers a very large sonic range, one that is much more varied than other FM synths.
- Due to its innovative technical approach, neoFM does not suffer from a metallic sound or from the weaknesses of conventional FM.
- No fewer than 22 combinable synthesis types. Nemesis expands FM with further synthesis methods such as Additive, Formant, Wavetables, Waveshaping, Phase distortion, Sync and Reso synthesis.
- Contains 1000 inspiring patches from professional designers.
- Unique signature sound.
- Nemesis features a large number of exclusive sounds that are not possible with other synthesizers.
- Perfect for modern, as well as all other music styles.
- Wave import, resynthesis and the additive spectral editor offer unlimited sonic possibilities.
- True 4x stereo unison.
- An extensive number of high-end quality effects, with flexible and innovative routing options.
- Trancegate with an extensive selection of setup options.
- High-End sound quality with low demands on your CPU.
- Powerful, easy-to-use arpeggiator.
Nemesis is available now for Mac & Windows for US 199. You can get details and audio demos for Nemesis at the Tone 2 site.
So it’s FM plus 21 or 22 other methods of synthesis combined to make “NeoFM”? And, it’s still a FM synth!
I’m sure it does a fine job of it with plenty of pizazz.
Where’s my hip boots?
That lens flare is killing me :(((
Hopefully that lens flare is available in the modulation matrix.
JJ Abrams directed the promo spot.
The best bit is the image!
only 199$
So essentially its a synth with many different methods and good at absolutely none of them? “NeoFM” ?!… wouldn’t “CrippledFM” be a more suitable name choice? Not everyone into synthesis is this gullible, especially not the FM crowd. Even Yamaha’s TX series has more more than how many operators again?… 2? “Here is a cooky cutter synth, its more powerful than more complex and powerful synths.” Anyone else see the oxymoron?
Have any of you tried the demo?
Sure the promo is cheezy but I think the synth is quite unique..
Demo versions are available here:

If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think of it.
I have tried it and in comparison to for example the Tone 2 ElectraX, it’s much more bigger and ballsy especially for edgy digital type sounds. It’s kind of a two operator FM synth but with four oscillators, two in each operator .FM each other and with additive wavetable or other oscillator (synthesis) types per oscillator. It’s quite versatile and I’m considering buying it..
Sounds like an FM Monster!… NOT. Seems like the marketing department is keen on keeping people in the dark regarding what the synth actually does all the while using catch phrases like “best” or “ultra” and then giving us stupidly vague terms like “wavetable” “additive” while playing dub-step and cheesy tunes no one in their right mind during the 80’s would have condoned. Marketing on this alone is a middle finger
Awesome. I’m definitely getting the $19.99 iPad port.
This site was… how do you say it? Relevant!!
Finally I have found something that helped me. Kudos!
Hello, the whole thing is going sound here and ofcourse every one is sharing information, that’s genuinely fine, keep up writing.
