This video, via Arrayzable, demos the MT25d – a fairly extreme makeover/mod of the Korg Monotribe.
When I first got the Monotribe I was really blown away by how cool it sounded and I wanted more. I wanted to be able to exploit it further and the MIDI mod was a great solution. But with so many DIY projects it grew bigger and bigger.
Here’s a video that takes a look at the making of the MT25d:
“I did the MIDI mod for the Monotribe from other peoples designs but inspired by Fellow Youtuber MrFricoco I did a simple MIDI through rather than a MIDI out,” notes Arrayzable. “Other people’s writings suggested that the MIDI out of the Monotribe wasn’t so impressive and I for one don’t need another controller!”
Check it out and let us know what you think!
I think this is really cool! This reminds me of the ridiculous Monotron mods I’ve seen floating around, like the Megatron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntnd1CmJAN0
It seems like within a couple years of the release of every new budget analog product from Korg, the modding community comes up with some amazing and special twists on the designs. I can’t wait to see what people come up with on the Volcas!
Kudos!
This is cool as F**K, i’d so have to strap another two units on there though to increase the polyphony.
Just brilliant!
