This video, via reader Darren Glen, demonstrates a couple of Korg Volca Bass mods.
Here’s what he has to say about them:
Following on from my work on Mods for the Volca Beats i am working on some much requested (and useful) mods for the Volca Bass.
Two demonstrated here, adding a Distortion / Drive knob to kick up some angry grunt inside the little silver box, and individual adjustable level knobs for the VCOs (ive demonstrated it with the VCO2 here)…this makes for a much wider sonic pallet as the standard VBass only has the option of ON or OFF for the VCOs.
Being able to mix in the VCO2 and VCO3 at different levels makes a big difference.
kool 😀 thanks for doing this
sounds awesome. this is how they were meant to sound always. RECALL ALL VOLCA BASS!!!!
I modded my Volca Bass and now the snare on my Volca Beats sounds better!
interesting. how did you mod your Volca Bass exactly then?
LOL! Just a lame joke man!
correct
I got a few likes out of it. LOL!
Totally Rad!!!
AWESOME!!!!
I hope this whole Volca hack thing doesn’t begin and end with Mr. Glen… be tough and get in there folks! Create your own signature tweaks!
Individual VCO control is the best thing that could have happened to this little synth. Awesome work!
Smart work.
Where can i find the schematic for these mods?
hi David i am still finalizing the mods. there will be a “how to” video but to be clear i will not be making any SCHEMATIC. Why? because i dont know how to hehe.
this is one of the best mods i´ve ever seen on any piece of gear,
just amazing work man, big thanks.
The dist\over pot is something like a feedback loop from out to filter??? Tks and you rules
