This video, via Moog Music, features the upcoming Teenage Engineering PO-12 drum machine with a variety of Moog Minifooger analog effects.
Here’s what they have to say about the video:
The PO-12 is a new drum machine from Teenage Engineering. This is one of the first 200 prototypes ever manufactured, made exclusively for the artists who performed at Moogfest 2014.
Here the PO-12 is featured with the MF Ring, MF Delay, and MF Drive from the Minifooger line of Analog Effects Pedals by Moog.
Details on the PO-12 drum machine are to be announced. You can find information on the Minifoogers at the Moog site.
“In the future, drum machines will be the size of a credit card and cost $50, but analog delay pedals will cost $200.”
– Me, 1983 NAMM Keynote address
In the future, drum machines will cost less than your cables … that future is now
This is great, but I’d rather see an proper in-depth demo of the PO-12.
It’s so affordable, how can you NOT run it through hundreds of dollars worth of pedals? It practically pays for itself!
personally i put up with a little latency by running my synths and grooveboxes into my guitar rig kontrol soundcard for effects.
Look at how ridiculously huge that pedal is next to that drum machine. I think someone is trying to compensate for something. I’m looking at you, Moog.
the minifoogers are quite small actually. They are similar to Boss pedals in size.
It’s one thing to push around some numbers through a tiny circuit… it’s another to physically control and manipulate the flow of electricity. This is where size comes into question.
One is not better or worse than the other… I think this video was made to show that Analog and Digital work better together.
i think this video was made to sell Minifoogers.
It is Moog’s video, of course they are trying to move product… but I believe the original comment was about the physical size of the units and the apparent confusion as to why that was. My response was aimed in that context.
PO-12 + Mf Drive like it very much. They all are quality effects no doubt, and PO-12 drum sounds are very solid!, I will buy the thing for sure.
All great. Fantastic demo for something that i fear is a rather limited bit of kit.
However i am done with gimmicky bits of kit. Its a waste of money ultimately.
