Adelaide, Australia “acoustic bass synth” player Jake Clark, aka Pipe Guy, plays a live techno/trance/house/White Stripes set on his homemade PVC pipe instrument.
Clark plays his DIY instrument by whacking it with a pair of flip-flop sandals. Recorded live in Rundle Mall, Adelaide, South Australia.
that is going to leave a mark
Love it! We need Pipe Guy here in Vancouver, Canada.
We need one here in Vancouver Washington too!

Ha ha ha !!! Amazing!!! This is real air-Pad !
Only two crashes are missing to complete the set.
Serious talent right there! Great tunes too – are they covers or originals? I didnt’t recognise anything but they sounded so accomplished.
Awesome! Fantastic! I love it when someone has enough imagination and talent to turn everyday items into music instruments. Proves that you do not always need a studio full of expensive gear to make people happy.
Looks like some kind of one-man copy of Blue Man Group:

You tube for a tune.
sick shit . well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Michael Stanwood play PVC pipes with flip flops in Boulder back in the late 80’s, but I don’t know if he did it first. I think once you figure out that you can make that cool sound by hitting pvc’s and that it smarts to hit it with your hands, then it is usually just a matter of looking down at your feet at some point and a solution dawns on you.
But…but…but it doesn’t have MIDI!! Hehehe
No, that was bad ass….loved it!
Sounds like a really good Reaktor Techno patch.
FAIL!! No velocity? No aftertouch? What year is this?.
Definitely velocity. If you watch all the way to the end, he definitely can get dynamics out of these things. Love the flip-flops and mallets!
yeah no portamento or filter eg either what is up with that?
Reverb, tho. Longtube setting.
Dad was a plumber. Used to drive him crazy with stuff like this when I was bored in the shop. So many kinds of pipes, so many things to hit them with. I’m only human.
I hear you brother.
