NASA has shared a collection of sounds from historic spaceflights and current missions.
The sound library includes engine sounds, launch sounds, countdowns, liftoffs, Neil Armstrong’s “One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind” and more.
The NASA sound library is embedded below and you can download sounds via their SoundCloud account.
If that’s not epic enough, NASA sounds are public domain. Details at the NASA site.

Thanks NASA. Hopefully they will let me make some recordings of the next launch.
I only listened to a few, but was hoping they would have had some really nice recordings of the launch. but you know, not all distorted. Like with a really great mic & pre-amps and the 10dB pad on. 🙂
these will be used!! nice one NASA!!
128 kbs, sometime less, really ?
well, time to make some late 90’s trance tunes

Cool! Some classic stuff in there… and some nice bass and industrial sounds too.
My U.S. tax dollars at work. The gift that keeps on giving. I think I speak for all us when I say “You’re welcome, Earth.” Oh, and thanks NASA.
yay- I have these on vinyl but it will be nice to throw some samples quickly!!
