IK Multimedia has announced the latest versions of its loop-based “groove making” app GrooveMaker 2 for iPhone and iPad, and of its mobile DJ app, DJ Rig for iPad.
Both DJ Rig and GrooveMaker 2 are now iOS 8-compatible, with native plug-and-play support for IK’s new iRig Pads MIDI controller
In addition, all GrooveMaker 2 users will be able to take advantage of the app’s support for Audiobus 2 in iOS 8, which allows for inter-app audio routing between compatible music apps.
iRig Pads Compatible
The biggest leap update with the two new versions comes in the form of native plug-and-play support for IK’s iRig Pads MIDI groove controller. Offering 16 velocity-sensitive, backlit multicolor rubber pads, the controller gives users a new tactile way to get creative with these apps.
When GrooveMaker 2 is paired with iRig Pads, it automatically provides two separate modes, Groove Mode and Launch Mode. These customize the pads, knobs and sliders to let users control groove length, browse through loops, tweak effects, trigger Randomixes and more, without having to touch their device’s screen.
Digital Decks
DJ Rig for iPad also natively supports iRig Pads. iRig pads can be used with each of DJ Rig for iPad’s different sections to allow for tactile hardware control, while syncing and crossfading tracks, triggering samples, adding effects and more.
