Sunday Synth Jam: Here’s another video song arrangement of video game music, by Motive Makes a Man (Ace Waters).
This time, Waters takes on Dragon Roost Island, from The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker soundtrack.
Here’s what Waters has to say about his arrangement:
I really put my own spin on this one, and I really hope y’all appreciate it.
While I was messing with the chords, it kept reminding me of one of my favorite Jazz standards, Take Five by Dave Brubeck. The melody also fit really well in 5, so I decided to give the song a swing, drop a beat, and make the song that way.
I tried to create a synth jazz combo, using my arturia to make a nice bass tone, and trying to keep the tempest more tame for the jazzy synth drums.
My good friend Peter from Soundole VGM Covers added some sweet flute sounds on his EWI. I hope you enjoy it!’
Gear Used:
- DSI Tempest (drums)
- Arturia Microbrute (bass)
- Arturia The Laboratory 49 (using M-Tron Pro plugin) (vibe/pad)
- Moog Little Phatty (lead)
- Kurzweil PC3X (Rhodes)
- Akai EWI (Peter of Soundole VGM) (lead)
- A banjo.
- A melodica
