Here’s a bit of bizarre holiday music from Bruce Haack, I Like Christmas, from the rare album Zoot, Zoot, Zoot, Here Comes Santa In His New Space Suit.
The album features a title track by Tiny Tim, and the remaining nine tracks written and mostly performed by Haack.
This album appears to be rare to the point of being nearly unobtainable. If you’ve got more information on it, let us know in the comments!
Loving the space age Christmas stuff. Vocoder or talk box – anyone know?
Terrible.
“terrible” unless you consider the guy built most of his own gear and was pretty much a genius. The guy was building his own synths and samplers, and vocoders in the 60s.
Wow, thanks for making me aware of Bruce Haack. This guy was a real pioneer and a serious hacking badass that must be taken seriously. He designed and built the Peopleodian – an analog synthesizer – back in the 1950s. The instrument heard here was likely the 1968 era Farad – a motion-controlled vocoder! Holy shit!

Try “Electric Lucifer” as a starting point. It’s such a great combination of electronics, vocoder, and hippie/psych aesthetics.

Its quite fun, actually!

AstroSpy- are you serious?
That’s a vocoder. A TalkBox doesn’t sound like that at all
Thanks.
just being listening to some more of it on you tube its like frank zappa traded his guitar in for a electronic orchestra, thanks for that.
That cover looks like some sort of Milgram experiment.
