This video, via geerefamilyusa, captures a demo of the Crumar Orchestrator – a fully polyphonic string synthesizer, from 1977.
The Crumar Orchestrator offers six sounds: Brass, Piano, Clavichord, Cello, Violin and Bass. Because of its full 49-note polyphony, it’s capable of some massive & lush sounds.
All sounds in the demo are from the Orchestrator; external effects added.
Great sound! Did Vangelis use one of these?
Sounds awesome!
This is also one of the best recorded video demos I’ve heard. It always bugs me that people so interested in sound will throw up a video demo of a piece of gear and the first line in their description is “Sorry for the crap sound…”. LOL!
Well done!
…. or when they talk for 15 minutes and never play the b*&&%y thing! 🙂
wow that sounds great.. i always thought the last 2 end chords on the Blakes 7 theme was made on the polymoog, but listening to that demo I’m not to sure now what u recon ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pnautWFuEnQ#t=33
The Orchestrator is the USA version of the Multiman-S. A multi-sample version of this synth is available as free Live pack here : https://www.clustersound.com/product-detail.php?id=137
I found one at a goodwill store for 20$!
That’s a great demo of a great sounding keyboard! It really goes to show that pedals are indispensable to getting a great sound.

I am selling mine for $500 but willing to negotiate. Email me if interested. I do not have the pedals but the orchestrator works and only a few keys are stiff. jrp_9427 @ hotmail . com
