At the 2015 NAMM Show, MFB was showing their Dominion 1 synthesizer.
Here’s what MFB has to say about the Dominion 1:
The Dominion 1 offers three oscillators for maximum flexibility. Each waveform can be varied in symmetry. Besides altering the pulse width of a rectangle, you may also continuously turn a saw tooth into a triangle and a triangle into a sine.
All oscillators also offer ring modulation, one of them is an analogue circuit! In addition, VCO 2 and VCO 3 can be synced to VCO1.
Finally, VCO3 can modulate the frequency of VCO 1 and VCO 2 and is dynamical controlled by LFO or AD Envelope. The analogue oscillator circuit is processor-controlled for stable tuning.
To complete the available sound sources, noise or an external audio input can be added to the VCOs in DOMINION 1’s mixer section. The redesigned SED Filter offers now 12 variations like four Lowpasses, two Highpasses, two Bandpasses and two Notches.
Features:
- Programmable Analog Synthesizer with 3 Octave Keyboard
- 2 Ribbon Controls, Arpeggiator/Sequencer, Velocity & Aftertouch
- 3 VCOs with Waveshaping, Analog&Digital Ring modulator
- Dual-Sync and dynamic FM, Noisegenerator
- 12 fold redesigned four stages SED Multimode Filter
- Huge Patch field to speak with world of Modulars and CV/Gate
- Velocity Routing matrix with 12 destinations
- 3 LFOs, 2 with One-Shot-Function and Reset
- 3 Envelopes with 70mm Faders
- Intuitive Handling and Quality Hardware, internal Power Supply
- Midi Dump, In, Out, Thru

When you can tell it sounds massive even with a field recorder mic…
This is already massive? Wait when MFB is releasing their Dominion 5!
So dearly hope they release the Dominion 5. Praying they’re still working on it!
This is really nice!
This does sound very good and has a great layout . Memories is a huge plus on an analogue synth.
But memory has always the drawback that the knobs are out of position when switching between memories locations.
I have one. If you activate “manual mode” the preset is deactivated so you get the sound the position of the knobs are in. What you see is what you hear.
Then I’ll ask you: Can the sequencer insert rests? All steps seem to fire in every demo I see of this machine. I guess note length would also come in handy, but I’ve also not seen any of that. Thanks!
Yes, it can. The (German) user manual explains how: Use Length, AT Mod and Glide buttons before pressing a note on the keyboard to define – well… And with Hold/Pause, you can record longer notes or pauses. Push the button to extend the note/pause by 1/16. You can record up to 128 steps (in paraphonic mode, you can record up to three notes at the same time to record/play chords) and edit your sequence afterwards. while the sequence plays, you can transpose it, or load another sequence, which would be started at the end of the current sequence.
That certainly exceeds my expectations. This is the synth. Thanks for the tip!
Aha! Thanks for that information!
Pretty cool set of features and sounds good. Price is reasonable.
It sounds amazing, and has a lot of features for a self contained mono synth. I want to hear what the FM sounds like.
This synth has about 5 gazillion sweet spots in sound, apparently. Wonderful. And instant Kraftwerkification at 5:30 😉
Yup, my brain went straight into:
Eins zwei drei vier funf sechs sieben acht….One two.
Price?
You can find its price at their site: €1380,-.
In US dollars.
The internet is amazing
http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/
It’s easy enough to visit a currency conversion site and punch in a four digit number. About $1550.
yeah don’t make people from the us look bad this is the internet world wide not the united states web, go find a currency converter.
LOL. Made you write stuff about online currency converters.
Well, that’s the price including shipping in Germany/EU. I would assume that it would be much more expensive to get it shipped from Berlin to the US (think: VAT, sales and import taxes). So, try to find a distributor in the US instead (as mentioned in the video, Analogue Haven will have it) – or better, send them an email and ask directly. They are nice people.

Looks like some nice CV functionality too.
sounds great nice job
Want. Seriously.
This was like listening to Pink Floyd.
This demo was like listening to Pink Floyd.
This synth is just amazing. It reminds me a little of the Korg MP4 monopoly but with a shed load of extras. Love the analog ringmod, patch system & the fact that all this is programmable!!! I think that they wanted to make it para phonic at some stage too, or does it already do that? Also noticed that most demos have this run thru a delay pedal, perhaps the Dominon 5 could feature this hint hint:)
Yeah, I was thinking of the Korg Mono/Poly, too. But then I listened to some Youtube demos of both to try to compare, and despite the additional 4th oscillator, the Dominion is much more versatile (think alone of that filter), while at the same time sounding equally lush and warm and – well – “analog”. Plus it’s got MIDI, patch memory, and a bunch of CV/gate connections, where the Mono/Poly only has very few.
COOL!
