Monoplugs, maker of the BStep Seqencer, has just released its newest product, Metronom, a “very powerful” metronome app and MIDI master clock.
Metronom is, as you might have guessed, a metronome with all the essential features of a metronome and support for non-standard time signatures, bundled with what developer Thomas Arndt touts as “a bunch of bonus features like an advanced speed and rhythm trainer. ”
But of particular interest to electronic musicians, Metronom has integrated a MIDI master clock, which can sync “all your grooveboxes, DAWs and drum machines.” The user can sync a sequencer or a DAW like Logic, Live or Cubase with Metronom to play a percussion pattern or a songs with speed changes in the background.
Pricing and Availability.
Monoplugs Metronom is available now from the App Store for iPhones and iPads, at an introductory price of 0.99€/$. Monoplugs expects to release the app soon for Mac, Windows, Linux and Android as well. More information is available at the Monoplugs website.
who’s gonna get out the meters and clock how accurate a clock it is?
What is the best way for me to use this with euro? It would be rad to run into my rene.
Or is there some other rad metronome i could Inexpensively run into my euro?
Sure, I think you can still find the free and totally rad “radical metronome” by radichio. It covers most timebases from straight 4/4 to more rad ones. It has an 80’s vibe but it is like totally yknow usable!
Being able to ramp tempos is available in other metronome apps (like Clockwork). This does provide the ability to change the tempo by X BPM per 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bars. It can either change tempo in those steps, or it can ramp the tempo at that rate. So if it is 10 BPM faster every 2 bars, then it can either make that change all at once (every 2 bars) or it can spread it out (“float”) over those 2 bars.
Being able to transmit MIDI sync during this is something you don’t have with other metronome apps. However, you do have it with other apps that give you control over tempo. MultiTrack Studio lets you edit the tempo track (and time signatures), and you can sync up external apps. I think drumperfect has this ability as well, but I’m not sure.
